Are you more likely to get sick while take hydroxychloroquine

It seemed like I hardly got sick before and now that I have been on it for 3 months, Iv been sick 3 times. I take it for Sjogrens and trying to weigh out the pro's and cons. Thanks again Hi, I have been on Plaquenil for 15 years for RA.

Jun 22, 2010 Once we determined that Plaquenil was worsening my psorasis to affect my nails and tendon inserts, I came off it for good. Skin rashes occasionally develop and hydroxychloroquine may make you more sensitive to the sun, so it is advisable to use the usual precautions of sunscreens and a hat if you are in the sun. Aug 26, 2016 Plaquenil is supposed to stay in your system for 1-2 months after you stop taking it. Try to rest, stay hydrated and away from sick ppl for now and hopefully you will not have any issues I recently decided to stop taking Plaquenil because I was having constant chest pains even more so than I usually have due to Lupus. Since I have not taken it my chest feels so much better which is odd because chest pain is not listed as a side effect. Also I noticed that the Plaquenil I think was making me feel different but not in a good way.

I got a real bad sinus cold and it took over 6 wks to get rid of it, and I still have problems with my sinuses.....I believe having Sjogren's causes recurring sinutitus(not sure of spelling? I am moving on to Benylysta, but unfortunately, my doctor is having a hard time getting the Benylsta in through the hospital where she wants my first infusion to take place. I find when I do catch a cold, it takes forever to heal. Thanks Hi, I've been on plaquenil for about 5 months for Sjogren's and Lupus, and I havn't gotten any better from the illness symptoms but not any worse either..... I have not had an increase in colds, but it has not been effective in controlling my Lupus either. Thanks everyone, I got a reply from my primary physician and he said yes it can due to it suppressing your immune system and my rhumy said she has had no reported increase in flu's or colds. With an auto immune disease, you are more susceptible to catching colds.

Mar 17, 2019 Take hydroxychloroquine for the full prescribed length of time for malaria. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. When treating lupus or arthritis, tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 6 months of treatment. Before taking this medicine. You should not use hydroxychloroquine if you are allergic. Find time to rest and get at least eight hours of quality sleep. The body needs this time to heal and to build up energy reserves from the day's activities. Individuals on immunosuppressive medications are more prone to fatigue and increased risks of infections, which can interfere with the amount of sleep and quality of rest. Hydroxychloroquine can be taken with a glass of milk or a meal to decrease nausea. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take hydroxychloroquine exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
